Prominent over the eastern entry to St Andrews Presbyterian Church Manly, are two significant honour boards. The first lists 87 members of the church who served in WWI, 15 of whom paid the ultimate price. The second lists 247 members of the church who served in WWII, 16 of whom paid the ultimate price. Prominent on this second board is the large number of women from the church who played their part in so many different ways.
Sunday the 11th of November this year will mark the day the guns fell silent over the western front exactly 100 years ago.
To remember, reflect and honour the contributions of those who went before us we will be holding a Remembrance Day service from 9:45am, in which a select number of stories of those on our boards will be told. The half muffled church bells will ring at 9:40am marking the service is soon to begin. During the service the names of the fallen will also be read out, and the service will conclude with a minutes silence at 11:00am. As a Christian church we acknowledge that all sacrifice points to the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of life.
All members and friends of our church and the wider community are welcome to share this day with us
